The drowning of a 2-year-old Houston boy is the 105th child drowning in Texas this year — the most since the state began tracking such deaths in 2005. Patrick Crimmins, spokesman for the Department of Family and Protective Services, says it's been "a dreadful year" for drowning. Most of the children have died in pools and bathtubs.
